Timi Dakolo is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and music producer who emerged as the winner of the inaugural season of Idols West Africa in 2007. He was born on January 20, 1981 in Accra, Ghana to a Nigerian father from Bayelsa State and a Ghanaian mother. Dakolo was raised in Port Harcourt by his grandmother Ateni Dakolo and aunt Susan Larry, who encouraged his early singing in church from the age of 12. After winning Idols West Africa, Dakolo released his debut single in 2009 and his first album “Beautiful Noise” in 2011 to critical acclaim. He has since released several hit singles like “There’s a Cry”, “Iyawo Mi”, “Wish Me Well”, and “Medicine”
